In his author comments in the 46th issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine on Thursday, Saint Seiya creator Masami Kurumada revealed that he is preparing a project that "will probably surprise everyone." Kurumada has been serializing Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades in Weekly Shōnen Champion since 2006. The most recent season ended in February and he launched a new season in September. Kurumada published the original Saint Seiya manga from 1986 to 1990. The manga has inspired a number of television anime, OVAs, anime films, and spinoff manga. Netflix announced a new CG anime based on the original manga in August, and the Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō spinoff manga also has an anime in the works. A live-action Hollywood film has also been greenlit. Viz Media published the original manga in English under the title Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac. The manga will go on hiatus and return with a new season "around next spring."
