Dengue Fever Market Trends:

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes, causing fevers accompanied by heavy headaches and excruciating pains. It is familiar in the tropical and subtropical climates of the entire world, but its presence is predominantly seen in urban and semi urban settings. The disease is caused by dengue virus, made up of four different serotypes, which cause the respective infection with one serotype being the only lifelong immunity to this serotype. Dengue is propagated dominantly through Aedes mosquitoes, specifically Aedes aegypti. The mosquitoes are more active during the day, with the peaks during morning hours and early evening. The initial infection of dengue results in more or less three to fourteen days after which fever with dengue symptoms sets in. The symptoms may include high fever, headaches, nausea and vomiting as well as muscle pains and joint pains and rashes on the skin. In certain cases, dengue can be transformed into the severe, referred to as dengue hemorrhagic fever, which causes bleeding, blood plasma leakage or into the low blood pressure, called dengue shock syndrome.

The global market is primarily driven by the rapidly rising number of dengue cases worldwide. The widespread globalization, urbanization and climate change are expanding the range of the Aedes mosquitoes that transmit the dengue virus, leading to rising number of dengue attacks. Urbanization contributes to this trend by creating environments favorable for mosquito breeding, such as standing water in open containers and discarded items, enhancing the spread of the disease. Moreover, the absence of specific treatment for dengue fever stresses the need for an effective vaccine and preventive measures which further drives the pharmaceutical industry for research and development. The development and approval of the dengue vaccination process does not only require resources to provide immunity to all 4 types of viruses, but it is significant driver in the market’s development.
