Best Muscle Building Supplement - What Really Works?

What is the best muscle building supplement? Forget everything you have been told because you have been brain washed by the effective marketing of the nutrition companies. If you want to know the best muscle building supplement it is not protein or creatine and I will discuss why. People fail to transform their bodies because they are told the incorrect information which holds them back from achieving the body of their dreams.

Creatine has been used to help people train and put on muscle for years now but it is not necessarily the best supplement on the market. Creatine works by drawing water into the muscle making it appear bigger how ever it is only temporary. Studies have been done and proven that creatine will help you put on muscular weight but when it comes time to shed the fat after your bulk the muscle goes as well making it not a very reliable supplement for muscle builders.

Protein is a fantastic supplement but it is more of a food additive. Whey protein is derived from cow's milk as the fastest acting protein source on the market and is perfect for after your workout when your body is crying for protein to stop muscle breakdown. It works well to help recover your muscles but there are much better options to help you get bigger and leaner at the same time.

One of the best supplements on the market is L-Arginine which is an amino acid which helps to increase blood flow and therefore the pump you feel in the gym. Many people use this as a pre workout mixture and it is very effective.

What Is A Concentrated Pre-Workout Supplement? How Do They Compare To A Regular One?

What Is A Concentrated Pre-Workout Supplement?

I have been a big fan of pre-workout supplements for a number of years now. Starting off with the original NO Xplode as most people did, and I was hooked. Within more recent years however, a new type of pre-workout supplement called "Super" or "Ultra" Concentrated has been taking the center stage.

I have used a number of them already, and the effects are awesome. But, when I tried to actually find some information how a concentrated one compares to a regular, I couldn't find much besides the marketing garbage. So I've decided to write this article to help educate myself, and any of you who might like to know more about these supplements.

The Advantages of Ultra concentrated Formulas:

they are supposed to have less fillers like flour, magneisum, and artificial coloring/flavors

with less powder per scoop, you don't need to add as much water to get it to mix thoroughly, and therefore feel less bloated from so much liquid

They appear to be slightly cheaper, with more servings per container as well

Are there any disadvantages?

With there being less ingredients, they may underdose some of the key ones

I came across someone that claimed that they're not for beginners, but then again, should a beginner be using a pre-workout at all?

2 Main Ingredients In Pre-Workout Supplements:

The 2 main ingredients in any pre-workout supplement are Caffeine, and Creatine. There are other useful ingredients too, but these are the big ones. After looking over a number of concentrated pre-workout options, it is clear to see that for the most part, you will not be getting a full 5 gram serving of Creatine - But there is always an exception. Lets look at some examples:

Doses of Creatine Per Scoop:

Neurocore (Muscle Tech): 1 gram

Beast Mode(Beast Sports): 1.5 grams

C4 Extreme (Cellucor): 1 gram

Fritcion (VPX): 5 grams

Supplements Without Fully Disclosed Amounts? Quite A Few.

I'd say the average tends to sit around the 1 gram of Creatine per scoop, and you can be fairly certain that if they mention Creatine on the label but do not give the amount, there is 1 gram or less. Some are even Creatine free.

What does this mean to a bodybuilder wanting to supplement with Creatine?

It simply means he will have to find one that has enough Creatine to benefit from, like Friction from VPX, or that he will need to add Creatine along side his pre-workout.

What does this mean for the average Joe/Jill?

I have a lot of friends that truly love their pre-workout supplements, but could really care less if it has Creatine in it or not. They just like the energy and focus it gives them. So I'd almost hazard to say, that a concentrated pre-workout might be a better choice for them. And that is what I have been suggesting when asked thus far.

What the concentrated version may lack in Creatine, they make up for in Caffeine. These choices are often the highest doses of caffeine per scoop that can be found ranging from 100 mg to over 200 mg that I have seen. Be careful if you venture in for that second scoop!

In conclusion, concentrated pre-workout supplements are a smaller version of a regular one, with less room for the unnecessary ingredients like flour, magnesium and artificial colors and flavors.

They may not meet a bodybuilder's daily needs of Creatine (with some exceptions of course), but they certainly hit the mark in stimulants. Less powder to mix in, means less liquid on the way down, and less of a bloated feeling while working out.

I remember a time when I used Superpump 250, and needed to drink about 36 oz. of water just to get 2 scoops mixed in. The workout that followed was not a productive one! Simply put, they are powerful and highly effective for amping you up before your workout. Explore more
