Dōjinshi novel author Shinobu Hashimoto of the Ascetic Silver dōjin circle revealed on Twitter on Tuesday that sales of his Grand/Order Alternative novel have been halted due to violating guidelines for derivative works. The volume is the first in a planned release of two dōjinshi novels based on the Fate/Grand Order smartphone game.

Hashimoto explained that the Melonbooks retailer holds the rights to the publication, and the company removed the listing for the volume from its online shop. However, the Tora no Ana retailer's online shop still has a listing for the novel.

Hashimoto plans to change the cover and logo design in order to comply with guidelines. He will then release a revised edition with the same story content as the original release. In addition, the cover and logo design of the second volume will also be changed to comply with guidelines. Hashimoto said that he is disappointed with the situation, and he is reflecting on the incident.

Ascetic Silver released the novel with lack's illustrations at the Comic Market 92 event on August 13. The novel's official web page states that the release celebrates the completion of the first part of Delight Works' game.

Aniplex released the Fate/Grand Order smartphone game in Japan in summer 2015. The game received an English release in the United States and Canada on June 25. The game has reached more than 10 million downloads in Japan as of September 17. The game's English version also reached 1 million downloads in September.
