Grant Morrison Joins Dark Matter as Sideways Co-Writer

DC Comics has been focusing much of its promotional power on the artist side of its Dark Matter line of titles, but the writing side just got a boost with the announcement that Grant Morrison has joined the imprint’s roster of creators.

During Jim Lee and Dan DiDio’s panel at New York Comic Con, the DC Comics co-publishers revealed that Morrison will join DiDio and Justin Jordan to co-script Sideways, with Kenneth Rocafort on art.

“I reached out to Grant,” DiDio said, “and he’s actually going to co-write some of the issues of Sideways with me.”

“I think it’s important that the DC Universe is crafted over decades,” Morrison said of the reasons he decided to join DiDio and on the title. “I think it’s super important to acknowledge that there are corners of this universe where your favorite characters have never gone. So that’s what the world I’m doing with Dan on Sideways is really trying to do.”

The official description for Sideways reads:

Forever changed by the events of DARK NIGHTS: METAL, a teenager struggles to live through high school as he comes in contact with Dark Matter and gains the power to teleport through the Dark Dimension. But each leap brings the new hero one step closer to succumbing to the allure of his new power and its dark origins.

Sideways #1 has not yet been solicited by DC Comics
