Marvel Comics has debuted (via Newsarama) an Alex Ross-painted variant cover for November’s Mighty Thor #701 which, taken at face-value, strongly hints at a return to form for the Odinson.

The issue follows the “Death of Jane Foster” story in #700 — and although we don’t know how that will shape up — it sounds like that paves the way for the Odinson to be the one and only God of Thunder once again. After all, there’s this little movie called Thor: Ragnarok coming out the same month the issue hits.
