Happens to wake up late, many anime characters stuff a piece of bread in one’s mouth and leaves the house. 

A typical Japanese love comedy manga bumps into the future boyfriend at the corner of the road and feels destiny since he is a transfer student of her school.

Rushing to school with a bread inside one’s mouth might be weird but the viewers understand that the character is in a hurry and cuteness to that character.

3. A high school student who lives alone because of some issues or the reason is untold.

You might think this is normal, but living alone as a high school student is too rare in Japan. 

In fact, it is a hard thing happen, but in anime world, it happens as if single life is normal for high school kids. 

In the anime world, high school student who live alone is often depicted as a kid who can handle studying and housework all by themselves. How perfect can a normal high school student be!!

4. A bad guy or gal in school tends to hide their niceness in the front.

This character is often a friend or rival of the hero or heroine who serve as a foil of them.

The term “gap moe” refers to this kind of character, who fashions in a bad clothing and hairstyle, but sometimes show a nice characteristic hidden in his or her heart. 

Cliche situation is heroine falling in love to a bad guy when she happens to see him helping an abandoned cat in a rainy day. 

It is a good lesson to not judge people by appearance, but hard to capture a scene like this in the real world.

5. Behind the glasses appears a different person!

When a tacky character takes off glasses, it changes one’s face. This is a common expression to wow the viewers, because a simple girl or boy who had no individuality becomes a princess or prince just taking the glasses off. 

Since the change is so big, it can be creepy if it happens in the real world. 

Additionally, it is surprising that the character is too insensitive to recognize their virtue without glasses. On the other hand, there are characters who happen to have their eyes in a “3” that happens mostly in a comical scene.

6. Normal ordinary protagonist is or happens to be a legal ability person suddenly.

This is a common trigger to enter the viewers and the main characters into the story by introducing the power that the character has. 

When a girl or boy meets a mysterious object or animal, it brightens up their sight and gets a magical power or ability to save the world. 

It is a burning situation that boys and girls like, but of course won’t happen in the real world…

7. What happened to the discipline?? Colorful hair colors in Japanese schools.

Japanese teachers are very strict about the student’s’ appearance, from hairstyle to the shoes, in school. Even in loose schools, the hair colors are either brown or black in schools. 

However, the schools shown in anime is too colorful… way colorful; pink, blue, green, orange…etc. For the viewers, thankfully, it is easy to understand the characters.

8. Harem is only for insensitive protagonist!?

The harem situation is a must cliche of anime from light novel or otome game. 

Insensitive hero or heroine is often used to create a pleasant harem seen by the viewers, and the story struggles more compared to sensitive one. 

Harem anime is supported as favorable anime to both female and male otaku since the hero or heroine can be replaced to one’s self. 

The most unbelievable point is that female harem is created around a normal boy who has no special features, however the male harem is created around a cute girl; which also depicts that girls see herself and the character together and the boys admire the character itself.

9. Japanese image of European rich people? Cliche pattern of rich characters!

There is always a character whose family is rich in any anime, and from its visual, the viewers automatically understand that he or she is rich. 

The typical rich girl character has a blonde long ringlet curls and wears a Lolita-like fashion. If her house is a distinguished Japanese family, she wears a kimono and has a black long hair to show her dignity toward her family.
