News Magical Girl Site Anime Reveals Staff, Spring 2018 Premiere
Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto's Tadahito Matsubayashi directs at production doA

This year's 52nd issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine is revealing the staff and spring 2018 premiere of the television anime of Kentarō Satō's Magical Girl Site (Mahō Shōjo Site) manga on Wednesday.

Tadahito Matsubayashi (Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto) is directing the anime at production doA, and Takayo Ikami (Yuri Kuma Arashi, Beautiful Bones -Sakurako's Investigation-) is in charge of the series scripts.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga and it describes the story:

Asagiri Aya is a young girl who has fallen victim to bullies at her school. Looking for a way to escape her troubles, she looks to the Internet for distraction, when a mysterious website called “Magical Girl Site” appears. Simply viewing the page is all it takes to hurtle Aya headlong into the deadly world of the Magical Girl Apocalypse. There, it's fight or die, against a seemingly endless array of savagely adorable, frilly-skirted killing machines, each armed with magical powers and an unquenchable thirst for blood and chaos.

The horror manga is a spinoff of Satō's original Magical Girl Apocalypse manga. The spinoff launched in Champion Tap! manga website in July 2013, before moving to Weekly Shōnen Champion in September. Akita Shoten published the manga's seventh compiled book volume on September 8. Seven Seas Entertainment released the manga's first volume on February 21.

Satō launched the Magical Girl Apocalypse manga in Bessatsu Shōnen Champion's first issue in June 2012, and ended it on August 12. Akita Shoten published the manga's 15th and final compiled book volume on July 7. Seven Seas Entertainment released the 12th volume on July 4.
