9 Badass Mentors of Our Favorite Anime Protagonists

Without the noble masters, our favorite anime characters wouldn't turn into what they became today.

With that in mind, we count down a list for these badass mentors who trained the favourite anime protagonists to become heroes now they are.

1. Izumi Curtis From Fullmetal Alchemist

Though considered as an attractive middle age woman, this lady is a fearsome master for the Elric Brothers as Ed and Al are both terrified at the mere thought of annoying her.

She is also capable of using alchemy without a transmutation circle or just by touching her palms together just like her student, Ed.

 

2. Kamogawa Genji From Hajime no Ippo

Not only Takamura and Miyata has the biggest influence to Ippo in terms of boxing, but Kamogawa too inspires our main guy to continue boxing and aim for the top.

Still not convinced? How about We say he also seeks to raise a world champion whose boxing is principled on fighting spirit, not just by talent or skill.

3. Genkai From YuYu Hakusho

She trained her students, including Yusuke in a very harsh way, like Yusuke needs to balance himself up using only his finger on a needle for 12 hours long to learn how to focus his energy on a specific point, most probably, for Yusuke to discover how to use his Spirit Gun.

4. Reborn From Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Quite likely to Genkai, Reborn also uses harsh training methods, or even considered as “spartan methods” in the series, shooting Tsuna in a forehead with his guns armed with a dying will bullet, or even forcing Tsuna to face deadly situations and some other cases making Tsuna face humiliation in front of his friends and other people around him.

Known as the “Toad Sage”, Jiraiya is one of the feared legendary Sannin and mentor to some notable names in Shinobi world like Nagato, Yahiko, Konan, 4th Hokage, and ultimately, to our main guy, Naruto.

7. Urahara Kisuke From Bleach

He’s not only a master swordsman; he’s also a master strategist and tactician, a master assassin, a master scientist and inventor, Kisuke was the one who trained Ichigo in order to save Rukia.

He made Ichigo ready for the battles ahead and that really helps Ichigo on his journey to Soul Society.

8. Silvers Rayleigh From One Piece

Known as the “Dark King” and former first mate of the King of Pirates, Gol D. Roger, Silvers Rayleigh served as Luffy’s mentor on learning how to use the three forms of “Haki”.

He only trained Luffy for over 2 years and guess what, Luffy has learned how to perfectly use the three forms of Haki, ultimately the conqueror’s Haki, who is a very rare kind.

 

9. Master Roshi – Dragon Ball Z

The Master of Son Goku and the creator of the most famous technique in anime history, the Kamehameha, Master Roshi makes it as one of the most badass mentors.

Why is that? There are too many reasons.
