To most, Pokémon was just another show in their morning TV line-up, but to others it answered all questions to life. 

What should I strive to achieve? Becoming a Pokémon Master. When is it fashionably acceptable to wear a cap backwards? In the heat of battle. What is the perfect guy/girl ratio in a group? 2 boys 1 girl. 

Here are just a few life lessons we learned from possibly the best anime show of all time...

1. Sometimes it takes more than one try to succeed

It took Ash plenty of attempts to beat all those gym leaders, but he never gave up on his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master, so neither should you!

 

2. Sometimes, things that seem worthless can transform into something amazing

AKA a Magikarp evolving into a Gyarados (which is probably one of the best water Pokémon EVER!)

3. Don’t trust people who introduce themselves in rhymes

Well, obvs!

4. Great friendships last forever

5. Life’s all about the adventure

As many Pokémon episodes - which have nothing to do with Ash becoming a Pokémon Master - have taught us, the adventure is more important than the season finale.

6. Dream big

Just listen to those theme song lyrics... inspirational or what.

7. But don’t be afraid to fall flat

No one ever said being a Pokémon Master was going to be easy. And just like in life, you can’t win every battle, but as long as you know how to pick yourself up don’t be afraid to fail.

8. Determination can take you places

Ash was that determined to become a Pokémon Master he travelled to six different regions, gaining 48 badges in the process. Talk about a trip of a lifetime!

9. Don’t use cheesy chat up lines EVER

Because if they didn’t work for Brock, they are certainly not going to work for you. FACT. But if you are up for the challenge and think you can out-flirt Brock, why not try some of our Pokémon chat up lines?

10. It’s okay to be competitive

Throughout the series Ash had many rivals, including Gary his childhood nemesis, and without them pushing him to work harder he wouldn’t be the great trainer he is today.

11. You can be anything you want to be

Just like Eevee, you can pick what you want to do in life. All you need to do is choose.

12. Don’t trust talking cats

They’re normally part of a (kinda) secret criminal organisation.

13. Always use a map when travelling

Because no one wants to be lost in a forest with bug types.

14. Don’t trust your mum with your savings

15. And it’s okay to wear the same clothes everyday

Because (apparently) washing your clothes is soo not anime.
